    This position is based at our Dallas Convention Center. The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) is one of the largest convention centers in the nation. Every year it welcomes over a million visitors attending major national and international conventions, meetings, concerts, athletic competitions, auto shows, and more. Located in the heart of downtown Dallas, the KBHCCD has been and continues to be a fixture in the Dallas skyline offering 1 million square feet of exhibit space, three ballrooms, 88 meeting rooms, 1,750-seat theater, and a 9,816-seat arena. The award-winning facility is connected to a 1,001-room hotel via skybridge and is adjacent to two Vertiport landing pads.     This position will be responsible for various facility maintenance needs in the field of carpentry.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for maintenance and repair of doors, hardware, millwork, seats, furniture, and associated equipment
    • Ability to cut, pour and level concrete
    • Knowledge of essential tools and equipment used in the field of carpentry
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines
    • Accurately maintain records of labor time, parts used, and work accomplished
    • Perform all corrective and preventive maintenance for carpentry related projects
    • Must be familiar with OSHA requirements
    • Track daily productivity via allocation sheets, daily logs and micro main.
    • Communicate arrival, location and departure with lead Engineer
    • Clearly, effectively and timely communicate work issues with staff
    • Performs other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 6-8 years experience in general carpentry installation and repair of doors, millwork, and related building systems
    • High school diploma, GED or equivalent recommended
    • Experience with electronic preventive maintenance programs preferred
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
    • Demonstrate attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must be able to report for emergencies as needed
    • Must have open availability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays

    Work Environment:

    • The duties of this position are performed primarily in doors and occasionally outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during event days.
