    This position is based at our Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) is one of the largest convention centers in the nation. Every year it welcomes over a million visitors attending major national and international conventions, meetings, concerts, athletic competitions, auto shows, and more. Located in the heart of downtown Dallas, the KBHCCD has been and continues to be a fixture in the Dallas skyline offering 1 million square feet of exhibit space, three ballrooms, 88 meeting rooms, 1,750-seat theater, and a 9,816-seat arena. The award-winning facility is connected to a 1,001-room hotel via skybridge and is adjacent to two Vertiport landing pads.     To assist the Sales & Marketing Department of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center through promotional activities, marketing materials, public relations, and social media. Expands the KBHCCD’s brand presence in the event planning community, as well as Dallas, and promotes the building as a whole.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development, maintaining and coordination of signage/sponsorship opportunities with the convention center including vendor packages, sales collateral, and digital signage.
    • Assist in the promotion of the convention center and its events through the distribution of press releases, social media, on-site marketing opportunities, guided building tours, curating a photo gallery of events, etc.  
    • Implement the KBHCCD social media plan and create engaging content across all social media platforms.
    • Assist in implementing the annual sales and marketing plan. 
    • Aid in the development and maintenance of all KBHCCD advertising and marketing assets, including the KBHCCD website.
    • Assist with writing and producing advertisements, print and digital.
    • Generate new and creative ideas to attract new events and to promote events when booked.
    • Assist in gathering data for and preparing various reports on social media insights, marketing efforts/results, website analytics, public relations progress, demographics and economic trends. 
    • Provide assistance and staff support to the Marketing Manager and the Director of Sales & Marketing, as well as the General Manager as needed.
    • Assist in responding to requests for information from the general public, media, organization and clients.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
    • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

    Qualifications

    Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of the Adobe Suite is preferred but is not required. Must be well organized with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments and be willing to get involved in projects with varying degrees of difficulty. Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate willingness to work as an individual and in a group. Photography experience is a plus.

     

     

    SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS/KNOWLEDGE:

    • Procedures, methods, and techniques of marketing, public relations, social media, event promotions, advertising and sales.
    • Detail oriented, organized and focused on customer service.
    • Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment.
    • Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Photoshop or equivalent desktop publishing program; training on industry specific software will be provided.

    • While performing duties of this job, the employee will need to be able to multi-task under time constraints. The position has moderate to high pressure situations. Requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards. Employee must be able to recognize and resolve conflicts, openly communicate with clients, and problem-solve the best course of action to address any concerns. Employee will frequently communicate with others and exchange accurate information. This position requires employee to frequently work both independently or as part of a team.

     

    Physical demands:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes and printers. Employee will also frequently move about inside and outside facility in various areas before/during/after events in the course of directing clients/groups to desired locations. Employee must constantly communicate via phone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

     

    Work environment:

    • The duties of this position are performed primarily in doors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during event days.
