    This position is based at our VSU Multi-Purpose Center. The VSU Multi-Purpose Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue located on the campus of Virginia State University, in Petersburg, VA. The arena is able to seat more than 6,000 guests, making it the largest events venue located south of Richmond in the state of Virginia. The amenities-packed arena serves as a full entertainment facility hosting athletic events, commencements, live concerts, family shows, trade shows, and more. Formally opening its doors to the public in March of 2016, the VSU Multi-Purpose Center is home to the Virginia State University Trojans Basketball and Volleyball teams.     • Coordinate and communicate all relevant information for event set ups, changeovers, and custodial tasks throughout the facility
    • Supervise event set-ups, changeovers, custodial tasks
    • Supervise and participate in day-to-day operations of the facility
    • Conduct meetings prior to each shift in order to review and/or distribute work assignments
    • Train and supervise part time and/or contract staff
    • Ensure employees have the equipment and resources to perform the job efficiently
    • Maintain employee paperwork including attendance, payroll, disciplinary procedures, etc.
    • Coordinate preventive and regular maintenance for all arena-related equipment and company vehicles (including truck, fork lifts, etc.).
    • Assist in budget planning with the Director of Operations
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.



    • College degree in Business Administration, Facility/Sports Management or other related field (High School Diploma or GED required)
    • Three years experience in sports/entertainment facility preferred
    • Working knowledge of facility and arena operations, changeovers, set ups and housekeeping
    • Working knowledge of operations equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, and basketball floors, etc.
    • Ability to oversee and direct staff in performance of conversions and housekeeping
    • Capable of working nights, weekends and holidays, as well as additional hours when needed
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
    • Ability to meet deadlines and function in a high-pressure environment
    • Forklift certification or ability to become certified within 3 months of start date
