    The successful Booking Manager is required to possess strong interpersonal and strategic sales skills, perform administrative and organizational tasks, while displaying a sense of creativity and strong teamwork focus. Additionally, the Booking Manager will need to learn and grasp the complexities of the market and region in terms of challenges and opportunities in order to maximize the event usage and revenue potential of the facility.


    This position is based at our Atlantic City Convention Center and Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. The Atlantic City Convention Center is a large convention center located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Opened in 1997, the center includes 500,000 sq ft of showroom space, 5 exhibit halls, 45 meeting rooms with 109,000 sq ft of space, a garage with 1,400 parking spaces, and an adjacent Sheraton hotel. The Convention Center, designed to incorporate and reflect Atlantic City's seaside location, won the prestigious "Award of Excellence in Architectural Design" from the Pennsylvania Society of Architects.     Boardwalk Hall is a multi-purpose facility located on the iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk and features the 141,000-square-foot main arena with a capacity of 14,770 seats as well as the 23,100-square-foot Adrian Phillips Theater with a capacity of 3,200. Constructed in 1929 as the country’s original convention center, for 89 years Boardwalk Hall has dazzled guests and residents of Atlantic City with legendary stage icons such as Elton John, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, and the Beatles. In 2001, a restoration project was completed to transform the original convention hall into its current state as a modern special events arena capable of hosting concerts, sporting events and family shows.     • Enhance and maximize existing relationships with promoters and agents to bring more concerts, family show and other large scale and ticketed events to the arena.
    • Initiate, develop and maintain new relationships with promoters, agents and other event producers/organizers while exploring new and creative event opportunities, special events, programs, etc.
    • Negotiate various deal structures including straight rentals, co-promotions and direct buying.
    • Coordinate event communication with a ‘client first’ focus and be the primary point of contact for all event inquiries and customer service issues from the initial contact, through contracting phase and settlement of the event
    • Pursue new rental and co-promotional opportunities with potential corporate and community clients
    • Identify low-usage periods and formulate strategies to increase facility usage and revenue potential during these periods
    • Development of new “in house” events at both Boardwalk Hall and Convention Center; event creation focused at driving additional revenue, sponsorship opportunities and economic impact
    • Maintain awareness of budget expectations and work towards achieving them
    • Keep accurate and easily accessible records of all events, including relevant customer information, contractual information, financial analysis
    • Work closely with the General Manager, Director of Finance, Director of Marketing, Director of Sales, Event Managers in order to vet event opportunities from a financial, operational and production standpoint and maximize revenue and any sales synergies with existing partners
    • Work closely with Spectra’s VP of Booking and Wells Fargo Center’s Director of Booking to take advantage of synergies and opportunities within the region and nationally
    • Develop and maintain working relationships and regular communication with public, private and community groups
    • Represent Boardwalk Hall on occasion at assorted local and industry conferences/meetings



    • Degree or Diploma from a recognized university or college in Business, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field
    • Minimum of 2 years' direct booking in a sports/entertainment facility
    • Proven planning, and organizational skills
    • Experience in contract negotiation, development and execution
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of MS Office, and other relevant scheduling and bookkeeping applications
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
