    The Cook position is responsible for preparing all types of food items in the dining areas.


    This position is based at our Gran Via Buffet. Regardless of what type of culinary mood you’re in, there’s a dish for it at the all-you-can-eat Gran Via Buffet at WinStar World Casino and Resort. This 500-seat buffet restaurant, just steps from the Madrid and London Gaming Plazas, allows you to be the curator of your own meal.     • Responsible for providing high quality, fresh hot and cold food items using standardized recipes and methods of preparation.
    • Maintains a neat and orderly food preparation environment by cleaning in a timely manner immediately following preparation.
    • Sample food prepared to ensure highest quality levels at all times.
    • Maintains knowledge of food costs and performs job responsibilities in a manner that minimizes waste and improves financial performance.
    • Organizes and maintains refrigerated and dry storage areas.
    • Must be familiar with common culinary terms and methods regarding broiling, braising, roasting, poaching, sauce preparation, and meat carving among other methods.
    • Prepares individual food items on a consistent basis with little or no variation in terms of appearance and taste as it relates to single food items.
    • Maintains ability and willingness to prepare all or nearly all food items sold by the enterprise according to recipe.
    • Maintains responsibility for kitchen safety and sanitation, as well as care of kitchen equipment.
    • Practices proper personal sanitary procedures.
    • Responds properly to customer preferences and concerns.
    • Ability to maintain a dependable work attendance record.
    • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
    • Communicates in a positive, respectful manner to both internal and external guests.


    • Operates a broad range of kitchen equipment including stoves, broilers, deep fryers and other food preparation equipment, and uses hand tools, knives and other related small wares.
    • Knowledge of pastries, desserts, cakes, baking, and other pastry techniques recommended.
    • Accurately reads food ticket orders.
    • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
    • Ability to clearly communicate, read and write in English.
    • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
    • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 5’s, 10’s and 100’s.
    • Ability to understand the basic use of weight and volume measurements.
    • Must possess excellent guest service skills, be a self starter with the ability to multitask, follow-up and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.


    Education, Qualifications and Experience:

    • Professional training through a culinary education or working in a fast-paced high-volume restaurant/catering facility, full service casual dining preferred.
    • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or related Food Service Job Experience.
    • Must possess Environmental Health Food Handlers Card and or ServSafe.
    • All employees must obtain a valid gaming license from the State Gaming Agency and Tribal Gaming Office prior to beginning work and are required to have license renewed annually. (Note: Any offers are contingent upon obtaining a Gaming License)



    • Uniforms will be specific to each outlet.
    • All hair must be completely contained within the approved health standards.  All hairstyles, body art and piercings must adhere to company policy to meet the needs of the health code and professional standards.
