Overview

The Accounting Clerk at the Alerus Center is responsible for supporting employees, managers, and the HR and Payroll Department in facilitation of various employee related activities and specialist projects.  Key responsibilities include Accounts Payable data entry, Payroll administration, data entry, filing/records management, day-to-day completion of employee related activities and processes, EEO, and projects as assigned and provides support to the Finance department.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable data entry.
  • Responsible for recording daily Box Office Sales and weekly Ticketmaster receipts.
  • Responsible for payroll and coordination with the Corporate Payroll office.
  • Coordinate and assist with hiring process for new employees.
  • Facilitate the on boarding process for new hires and transfer and handle first-day paperwork for new hires, including tracking to completion.
  • Process new hire paperwork, drug screening, and background checks.
  • Responsible for data entry of new hires, terminations, and employee changes.
  • Ensure personnel files are complete and up to date.
  • Assist with various event related duties as needed.
  • Responds to inquiries from associates with respect to HR, benefits and/or payroll programs. Research questions and communicate information back to associates or requestors. Escalates more complex issues to subject matter experts.
  • Completes annual EEO Report.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree and a minimum of two years of job related experience, preferably in an accounting or human, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Previous office management or executive support experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to traditional business hours, as required.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong PC and data processing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of team and with all levels of management.
  • Strong customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to strict levels of confidentiality, discretion and ethics.
  • Understanding of principles and procedures of record and file keeping for both employee and financial records and reporting.
